Courtesy of the out-of-print Crocheted Socks! (thriftbooks link; not an affiliate), here’s the schematic I use when making socks to measurements. I add one thing, but let’s talk about the noted measurements first:
- A= Circumference around calf where you want the sock cuff to fit.
- B=Circumference around the widest part of your foot.
- C= Length of foot from heel to toe.
- D= Length of foot from where the heel ends to the toe.
Now, I would also add E:
- E= length of sock from top of cuff to the length you want before you start the heel.
Another note: Adult-sized toes are generally about 2 inches long, so when needing to know when to start the toe cap, start 2 inches before the end of the foot length. For example, if you food it 11 inches in measurement C, you start the toe cap at 9 inches.
I saw you post on vintage yarn and have many different colors of skeins of the Skinnerin Marvel Twist Knitting Worsted, Mothproofed, 100% wool, 4 oz skeins at 275 yards. My aunt bought these and I inherited them when she died. They are old and I can’t find any information about them and wondered if you had any. I would appreciate if you would let me know if you do and would reach out to me.
Thank you,
Lisa Hutchings

All I can tell you is that it’s a worsted weight. You make be able to find some patterns on etsy or ebay that use it by searching for the yarn name.
