Sock Measurement Schematic!

Courtesy of the out-of-print Crocheted Socks! (thriftbooks link; not an affiliate), here’s the schematic I use when making socks to measurements. I add one thing, but let’s talk about the noted measurements first:

  • A= Circumference around calf where you want the sock cuff to fit.
  • B=Circumference around the widest part of your foot.
  • C= Length of foot from heel to toe.
  • D= Length of foot from where the heel ends to the toe.

Now, I would also add E:

  • E= length of sock from top of cuff to the length you want before you start the heel.

Another note: Adult-sized toes are generally about 2 inches long, so when needing to know when to start the toe cap, start 2 inches before the end of the foot length. For example, if you food it 11 inches in measurement C, you start the toe cap at 9 inches.
